After another highly competitive process, with a record-breaking 411 entries sent in from 63 countries worldwide, this year’s winners were announced at a gala held during Smart City Expo 2023.

Beyond Raw Metrics: Measuring Citizens' Perception of Urban Heat

Society for the Promotion of Initiatives in Sustainable Development and Welfare (SOPISDEW)

Bamenda, Cameroon
The project is also supporting the integration of beneficiaries through the organization of an urban regenerative farmer cooperative led by the IDPs. The cooperative supports land use advocacy for IDPs, collective marketing of agricultural produce and exchange between IDPs in the City of Bamenda.

Smart Irrigation Management for Parks and Cool Towns (SIMPaCT)

Transport for NSW, Australia
SIMPaCT is Australia’s largest smart green infrastructure project. It uses a digital twin and machine learning to manage irrigation to maximise cooling. Air in the pilot park, spanning 42ha, is now up to 7°C cooler than its surrounds, improving the resilience, health and comfort of the community.

Deployment of a Carpooling Network for Daily Trips Integrated with Public Transport: Lyon Case Study

In March 2023, the Lyon metropolitan area launched its short-distance carpooling service operated by Karos. The project aims at providing a customised solution to the city and implementing Karos playbook to build efficiently a carpooling network for daily commuting in partnership with the employers.
