Biography

Carlos Moreno earned recognition as a scientist for his innovative research towards bringing solutions to the issues faced by cities, metropolises, territories. Some of his concepts traveled the world, including the 15-Minute City. In 2022, he led the Global Observatory of proximities’ launch with UN-Habitat, C40 Cities, UCLG etc.

Past urban models are no longer fit for purpose. They promote sprawl, pollute the air, as well as generate long commute, fragmentation and loss of social cohesion. It is urgent to makes our cities more sustainable and desirable, to ensure proximity to amenities and services in every neighbourhood, and to create public spaces that act as the “living room of city", a place where people meet, socialize as well as safely walk and cycle.
