Smart cities are all about new tech, new strategies and new ideas for improving urban life. As such, the sector offers countless opportunities for both fledgling and more established startups, and Smart City Expo World Congress is the perfect stage to help scale and grow new business.

The Innovation Plaza is a shared program for international corporations, entrepreneurs, delegations, cities, researchers and innovation agents to convene and celebrate exciting new solutions. Featuring different areas for startups, networking, and demo showcases along with a conference stage, the Innovation Plaza will become the hotspot where tomorrow takes shape.

1. STARTUP AREA

The Startup Area became a busy melting pot of some of the projects set to disrupt our streets and make a positive impact on citizens’ lives, with 74 international startups from the fields of mobility, energy, building, and security joining us.

The Demo Area brought a curated array of interactive displays, immersive simulations, and revolutionary tools that prove how sci-fi solutions will actually change the way we live, work, and interact within our cities.

Äike Mobility OÜ

Connected lightweight urban e-bike Ampler and high-tech e-scooter Äike. Both brands belong to KÕU Mobility Group, whose in-house know-how enables them to ensure the high quality of the products, sustainably manufacture them in their own European factory and empower people to choose emission-free transportation.

Aurrigo

The Auto-Shuttle is a ten-seat passenger vehicle with the ability to operate fully autonomously or driven manually as a conventional EV shuttle. It is the first road legal vehicle to be manufactured by the Group. The vehicle has been designed to provide economical public transport in under-served or previously less cost-efficient parts of the country, as well providing an excellent transport solution in airports to move passengers to and from terminals and to operate airside with applications such as VIP transport and crew movements.

Bin-e

Bin-e is an AI-based smart waste bin, designed for public places, enabling them to simplify recycling. It sorts and compresses the waste automatically, controls the fill level and processes data for convenient waste management. Bin-e will increase the waste sorting accuracy to above 95% and supports the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Citizen Dialog Kit

Citizen Dialog Kit: Starting Conversations at Places that Matter. CDK is a platform that consists of interactive survey devices and an online management platform. It is designed to include more and different people in the citizen engagement process. Easy to install anywhere, completely wireless, and independent of existing power or network infrastructure.

Coding the Curbs

Coding the Curbs is a start-up in the Smart City domain. We optimise the use of the curbside. Our digital platform allows users, such as logistics, to easily book and access Smart Zones. We ensure that the scarce space in city centers is used better, digital control is made possible and fewer kilometers are covered through improved planning. On the street, we install state of the art smart signs (e-ink displays) that give information about the use and function of the smart zone. We believe in an adaptive city where space adjusts to the changing demands of businesses and people.

Dreamwaves

waveIn is an indoor navigation app guiding people with spatial audio cues. Whether in a shopping mall, airport, or any indoor space, users simply input their destination, and let waveIn provide audio augmented reality sounds that are placed at the directions to follow. Spatial audio is implemented through headphones, so the experience is hands-free, accurate navigation and never getting lost indoors again.

DriveX Technologies

We offer a remote car inspection solution. Our AI-powered process guides users ensuring high-quality pictures, saving time and reducing fraud risk. Damages are detected on the car body. Car inspection can start right away without any mobile app download. After car inspection is completed, car visual assessment and damage report is generated.

Greenin

Puricity: Air-purifying advertising that has revolutionized traditional outdoor advertising into sustainable messengers and environments. We can Reduce CO2 and NOx zero cost in cities with air purification with photocatalysis and microalgae, thanks to advertising, in addition to monitoring air quality with certified sensors We can transform almost any product into an air purifying device that spreads throughout cities indoors and outdoors.

Hopper Mobility

Hopper is combining the bike and car world. Comfortable and weather protected like a car and environmentally friendly and easy to use like a bike. To hop-around in the city. Loved by companies and private customers for personnel and luggage transport, for example food delivery, intra logistic, drug delivery, taking the kids to the kindergarten or commute to work. The vehicle is registered as a bicycle and in many countries subsidized by the government.

iUrban

iUrban.es is an artificial intelligence travel tech startup that has created Ciceroneai.com, the first travel planner with GPT integrated with official sources. We work with more than 300 municipalities and hotel chains throughout Spain, participating in the main specifications for Smart Tourist Destinations (Bilbao, Santander, Almuñécar, Málaga...).

The Smart Pedal Vehicles by mocci are an innovative and sustainable solution for companies seeking to make their urban operations flexible, fast, and eco-friendly. Thanks to the Free Drive from Schaeffler, they also offer a completely new riding experience that is customizable, safe, and fully connected.
