Improving air quality is key to more liveable urban spaces, and a priority for many European cities. The transition to a zero-emission transport sector is needed to achieve this goal. Across Europe, schemes to reduce traffic pollution such as low-emission zones (LEZ) have multiplied, and more are planned in the future. What specific aspects need to be considered when planning and implementing LEZ? Are cities ready for the increasing number of electric vehicles?

Over the past two years, many have speculated about the post-pandemic world, what will it look like and how will mobility patterns be affected by it? As restrictions have been progressively lifted, the new normal looks very similar to the old status quo, with congestion levels in cities that have bounced back to their pre-pandemic levels. How has this impacted sustainable forms of transport, safety, and mobility regulatory frameworks? Has the mobility behaviour of users changed? What longer-term effects can be expected from the pandemic?

A growing body of evidence points to the differences between men and women travel patterns and mode usage. While it is common to consider urban transport to be gender-neutral, transport planning is unconsciously biased towards traditional male travel patterns and modes. What are the structural gender differences and mobility patterns resulting from them? How can they be best taken into account by cities and urban planners?

Interchange car parks located at railway stations or other public transport stops can contribute to making the public transport system more accessible to private vehicle users. Since 2018, AMB is implementing a system, based on the provision of free parking spaces for public transport users. This is managed through a mobile application, in which the user registers their data and interact with a regulated parking system.
