The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) is the public administration of the metropolitan area of Barcelona, which occupies 636 km² and encompasses 36 municipalities with more than 3.2 million inhabitants. The metropolitan area is a territorial, social, demographic, economic and cultural entity formed during the last century as a product of the growth and connection of urban systems around the city of Barcelona. This is the largest metropolitan conurbation in the western Mediterranean, which generates half of the GDP in Catalonia. The new public metropolitan administration replaces the three entities existing until 2011: Union of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, Environmental Agency and Transport Metropolitan Agency. COVENANT OF MAYORS FOR CLIMATE & ENERGY

The Covenant of Mayors is the world’s largest movement for local climate and energy actions. In Europe, over 10,000 cities and towns are joining forces to secure a better future for their citizens. Under the renewed ambition of the European Covenant of Mayors, signatories commit to reaching climate neutrality by 2050, to increasing their emission reduction targets, implementing adaptation to climate change measures and alleviating energy poverty thanks to a just transition. They also commit to engaging their citizens, businesses and local stakeholders in the transition, thus contributing to the European Climate Pact.

CNCA

The Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance (CNCA) is a collaboration of leading global cities working to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80-100% by 2050 or sooner — the most aggressive GHG reduction targets undertaken anywhere by any city. Achieving carbon neutrality will require radical, transformative changes to core city systems. CNCA enables its member cities to advance their own transformational efforts, collaborate with each other and key partners to overcome barriers, foster innovative approaches, and share lessons with other cities ready to pursue similar goals.

FRANCE URBAINE

France urbaine is the only association of city mayors and urban centers presidents in France. Its 108 members, of all political tendencies and representing some 1,300 cities, gather more than half of France’s population. France urbaine aims to promote the urban fact among public authorities and all citizens. The association takes its part in the structuring of the urban world and the attractivity of our country, within the framework of a permanent dialogue with the French Government. France urbaine is organised into colleges representing the various administrative forms of France’s urban diversity.

FNP - FRENTE NACIONAL DE PREFEITOS

Founded in 1989, the Brazilian Association of Mayors (FNP) is the only municipal entity directed exclusively by mayors in exercise of their mandates, composed by 400 municipalities with more than 80,000 inhabitants. This number covers 100% of the capitals, 60% of the inhabitants and 75% of the country’s GDP.
Among the activities of FNP is the organization of national and international events. We highlight the Municipal Meeting with Sustainable Development (EMDS), the largest local sustainable development event held in Latin America. Promoted by FNP in partnership with national and international organizations, it welcomes about 10000 people (+500 mayors) each edition. 

MERCOCIUDADES

Mercociudades is the main Network of the South American local governments and an outstanding reference in the integration processes. It is conformed by 361 cities in 10 countries, where over 120 million people live. Mercociudades was founded in 1995 on the initiative of the main mayors of the region with the aim of promoting regional integration and the creation of an institutional scope for cities within the Mercosur. Mercociudades works to strengthen the exchange and horizontal cooperation between the cities of the region, inspired by a different kind of regional integration, respectful of diversity and with a vocation to build borderless participatory citizenship.

The OSGP Alliance is the global non-profit association dedicated to promoting the adoption of the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) and infrastructure for smart grid applications towards a future proof modern smart grid. ACR+ is an international network of cities and regions sharing the aim of promoting a sustainable resource management and accelerating the transition towards a circular economy on their territories and beyond. Circular economy calling for cooperation between all actors, ACR+ is open to other players in the field of material resource management (NGOs, academic institutions, consultancy or private organisations). For already 25 years, ACR+ facilitates the exchange of experiences between members while also sharing technical and policy information. The International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA) was originally founded in 2011 as the European Port Community Systems Association, by six European-based PCS operators. Smartech, which has about 135 members, is the Spanish cluster of companies and organizations from the entire value chain of smart homes, buildings and cities.
