Biography

Gina Obiri leads the development of unarmed public safety alternatives within the Office of Performance & Innovation (OPI) at the City of Minneapolis. A central focus of her work is prioritizing the needs of Black and brown communities who continue to be harmed by systemic racism in government services.

This session will gather various city planning successful experiences that have integrated civic engagement. How can collaboration enhance public safety? How can decision-makers seize the opportunities that technologies such as IoT, artificial intelligence or surveillance, among others, can bring for the betterment of urban security?
