Dagur B. Eggertsson became mayor of Reykjavík City on June 16 2014. Dagur was first elected to the city council of Reykjavík in 2002. Dagur was mayor from 2007-2008. From 2010–2014 he was chair of the City Executive Council. In 2014, Dagur became mayor, again in the elections of 2018 and yet again in 2022.
